Held on Sunday in the heart of Ilupeju-Ekiti, the swearing-in ceremony drew an influential crowd, including the Apeju of Ilupeju-Ekiti, HRM Oba Sunday David Awe Akingbade I, alongside notable community elders and residents.

In his inaugural acceptance speech, Comrade Law Ibitoye described his rise to leadership as a collective victory for the young people of the town. Setting a collaborative tone for his tenure, he promised to manage the group’s affairs with absolute transparency, open communication, and total accountability.

Key Priorities for Ilupeju-Ekiti Youth Leadership

To drive his vision forward, the new president outlined a series of targeted community initiatives. Central to his agenda is the creation of a dedicated Youth Vocational Development Centre and the immediate revival of the local Students’ Union body. By focusing heavily on Ilupeju-Ekiti youth leadership and welfare, the administration aims to build stronger bonds with established town stakeholders to fast-track development projects.

Ilupeju Youth Development Association: Royal Blessings, Advice for the New Council

Speaking earlier at the gathering, the Apeju of Ilupeju-Ekiti, HRM Oba Sunday David Awe Akingbade I, urged the new leaders to make teamwork and peace their highest priorities. The monarch reminded the crowd that the ultimate future of the town rests squarely on the shoulders of its youth, calling on all indigenes to back the new executive team. He then shared warm royal blessings for a peaceful and progressive tenure.

Adding to the counsel, Mr Sola Ogunmiluyi, a retired Permanent Secretary and President of the Plateau Social Club of Ilupeju-Ekiti, together with Mr Dele Owolabi, a retired SUBEB Director and Chairman of the Ilupeju Development Association (IDA) Ado Branch, shared valuable guidance. They advised the team to respect traditional structures and consult the senior IDA leadership before launching new public schemes to preserve community harmony.

The two elders urged students to stay fully dedicated to their studies, taking full advantage of new training opportunities. They noted that these leadership roles serve as an ideal testing ground for greater national responsibilities ahead, while offering distinct congratulations to Ibitoye, who holds membership in the Plateau Social Club.

Building on Eight Years of Association Progress

The outgoing National President, Engr. Christopher Femi Fagbemi, congratulated the incoming team while looking back at the achievements of his own eight-year term. Under his guidance, the Ilupeju Youth Development Association successfully secured employment for 116 young people, ran multiple skill acquisition schemes, and launched a modern ICT centre through a partnership with ECKPRA. The past administration also built community market shops and drew young locals into modern farming businesses.

Engr. Fagbemi closed by thanking the people of Ilupeju-Ekiti for their unwavering support throughout his tenure, promising to stand by the new leadership.
