The Oyo State Government has issued a firm rebuke against Mutalubi Ojo Adebayo, SAN, describing his recent public commentaries as a collection of manufactured falsehoods.
Oyo State Government, in a press release by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, clarified that while the senior advocate is free to support any political candidate, he possesses no licence to distort facts regarding Seyi Makinde Oyo State governance achievements.
Political Commentary and the Mutalubi Ojo Adebayo Controversy
Dr Olanrewaju noted that the former commissioner has turned himself into a factory of incendiary commentaries and personal attacks.
“Mr. Adebayo is free to support any candidate he likes, even one who is clearly addled and patently incompetent, but he has no licence to twist facts or manufacture falsehoods to justify his political choices. We remind him of a simple truth: lies have short legs. They may stagger noisily for a moment, but they cannot outrun facts, nor can they withstand the reality of the administration’s visible achievements.”
The state government emphasised that these wild allegations reduce serious governance issues to political theatre. His persistent attacks betray motivations rooted in political inducement rather than genuine public interest. The citizens of Oyo State continue to appreciate Governor Makinde’s leadership and remain supportive of government initiatives.
Setting the Record Straight on Oyo Infrastructure and Roads
Addressing specific criticisms raised by Mutalubi Ojo Adebayo, the government dismissed his characterisation of the Ogbere–Amuloko–Akanran–Ilaji–Ogun State border road as sheer exaggeration.
“His claim that road users ‘have their thinking apparatuses at the soles of their feet’ is reckless, insulting, and unbecoming of a senior lawyer.”
Contrary to these claims, the corridor is part of a World Bank–supported rural access initiative. It operates under strict procurement rules, environmental assessments, and phased implementation schedules. No World Bank project can be abandoned to spite an individual or a private enterprise.
Furthermore, allegations regarding the diversion of local government funds were flatly denied. Joint funding of strategic infrastructure between the state and local councils is lawful, necessary, and vital for executing projects beyond council budgets. Local governments in the state remain fully functional, paying salaries and executing community developments.
Clarifying Seyi Makinde Oyo State Governance in Education and Health
In education, the administration highlighted measurable improvements that contradict the legal practitioner’s claims. Oyo State has recorded higher WAEC performance, increased student enrolment, and sustained investment in teacher welfare.
The government noted:
“It is also on record that the Makinde administration has employed more teachers than any administration in the state. It is also on record that the Makinde administration resolved longstanding issues at Ladoke Akintola University that previous administrations failed to address, a fact Mr. Adebayo pretends not to know.
Regarding healthcare, the government described the claim that state hospitals are “pigsties” as inaccurate and disrespectful to dedicated health workers. Hundreds of primary healthcare facilities have undergone renovation, equipment upgrades, and integration into the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency scheme.
Addressing Security Concerns and the Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju Statement
Security across the state has been bolstered through sustained support for Amotekun and federal security agencies. The acquisition of surveillance aircraft followed all necessary procurement protocols and Executive Council approvals.
Regarding the Ibadan Circular Road contract, the review was necessitated by technical and contractual concerns left unresolved by previous administrations.
In conclusion, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju statement reiterated that Governor Makinde welcomes constructive, fact-based scrutiny but will resist attempts to rewrite history.
“Governor Seyi Makinde welcomes constructive, fact based scrutiny. What he will not accept is the rewriting of history through exaggerations, vendettas, and unsubstantiated allegations. The people of Oyo State are discerning; they see the roads built and still being built, the schools revitalised, the hospitals upgraded, the security architecture strengthened, and the governance reforms improving daily life. In the fullness of time, tangible results, not incendiary essays or politically motivated outbursts, will speak for the administration.”
