A significant political shift occurred in the Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State on Friday. Oloye Ambassador Ademọla Oyepeju Ara formally declared his bid for the Oluyole Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

The event, titled “Declaration to Victory,” took place at Muslim Grammar School in Ibadan. It drew a massive crowd of grassroots leaders and supporters. In a major boost for the Accord Party in Oyo, over 10,000 people reportedly left their former parties to join Oyepeju Ara.

A Dual Mission for 2027

Speaking to reporters, Oyepeju Ara explained that the gathering had two main goals. It marked his official move to his new party and the start of his campaign for the Oyo State 2027 elections.

“Today is my declaration. The event is for two purposes. One, to officially join Accord and also to move all my members into the party. Secondly, it is to declare my intent to represent the good people of Oluyole Federal Constituency in Abuja come 2027,” he stated.

The aspirant also warned against the dangers of a one-party state. He described such moves as a “gunshot to democracy.” He argued that Nigeria must protect its democratic system to ensure fair representation for all.

Oyepeju Ara promised a new era of inclusive leadership. He told his constituents to expect “more than they can imagine” regarding developmental projects.

“My priority is to represent my people well, to propose laws that will benefit not just Oluyole but Nigeria at large. I will bring development in education, skills acquisition, electricity, healthcare, and security,” he said.

One unique plan involves the health sector. He noted that many residents over the age of 45 suffer from strokes. To help, he plans to build a specialised anti-stroke hospital in the area.

“A major issue we face in Oluyole is stroke among our elderly population. I plan to establish an anti-stroke hospital to ensure modern treatment for affected individuals,” he explained.

Boosting Education in Oluyole

Education remains a top priority for the candidate. He noted that the constituency lacks a government-owned university or polytechnic. He pledged to fix this gap to help local youth.

“There is no government university or polytechnic in Oluyole. I will work to bring these institutions to our people, creating opportunities for our youth,” he added.

As the race for 2027 heats up, this massive defection suggests that the Accord Party Oyo will be a strong force in the coming polls.
