PRINCE Adewumi Adefemi Samuel (PAAS), a former State House of Assembly aspirant has congratulated the former Minister of State for Works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, for his victory in the last Saturday Senatorial election.
Adewumi, who also congratulated other candidates who were elected in the last Saturday election to represent districts and constituencies in the Ekiti State, both at the red and the green chambers, described the electoral process in the state as free and fair, devoid of any form of violence.
He said these in a statement he personally signed.
The statement reads: “Ekiti State has indeed set the pace, irrespective of whether we are the smallest in terms of accredited voters or not, every PU, every Ward, every Local Government made our dear state proud.
“The election was though partly about the faith of the electorates in the manifesto of the party but largely about their faith in your manifesto, in your dreams and anticipation for an Ekiti of our dreams.
“I urge you to be more of a statesman than a politician as you carry out your duties towards a better Nigeria. Remember, leadership is not about the next election but about the next generation, please advocate for the youth and create enabling an environment for us to thrive and to have a future you can trust. I believe our choice of you will only reflect our hopes and not our fears, God is with you as you represent us and make us proud.
To the good people of Ekiti State, regardless of who wins, an election should be a time for optimism and fresh approach and not a time of cynicism and castigation. Election days come and go, but the struggle to create a government which represents all of us and not just the one per cent – a government based on the economic, social, racial and environmental justice – that struggle continues.”
He, however, noted that “the process does not end on the Election Day, we the youth need to stay involved in the process by continuing to pay attention to the conversation and holding our leaders accountable for the decisions they make.
