Protests rocked Ibadan Central Hospital, Ososami area of Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday morning following a protest by the family over the alleged removal of some parts of the 91-year-old corpse of Rachel Osuntolu overnight in the hospital.
The family of the deceased and residents of the area blocked the entrance of the street where the hospital was located to demand justice.
REPORTERS AT LARGE gathered the body of a 91-year-old woman that was admitted to the hospital over a week ago was tampered with after her demise on Sunday morning.
In large numbers, the people blocked the street entrance where the hospital was located, calling for justice.
Some children of the nonagenarian explained that they left the hospital at around 8p.m. on Sunday with the plan of taking the corpse to a morgue on Monday morning.
They said they were all surprised when they saw some blood on the floor of the room where the corpse was kept while some pounds of flesh on the woman’s forehead and arm had been removed.
Efforts to speak with the hospital’s head of administration, Olúwaṣeun Hastrup, proved abortive, as she declined to comment on the situation.
Reacting, the police public relations officer in Oyo State, Mr Adewale Osifeso, said he was yet to be briefed about the incident.
However, the divisional police officer of Iyaganku and his team were on the ground to prevent the breakdown of law and order at the hospital.
