EKITI State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Peter Fayose, on Thursday, raised the alarm over the arrest of the state Commissioner for Finance, Chief Toyin Ojo, and the State Accountant General, Mrs Yemi Owolabi in Abuja on Tuesday by the Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), saying that their arrest was politically motivated.
Speaking with Newsmen in Abuja yesterday on the arrest, Fayose wondered why the Agency waited for so long before arresting the officials until yesterday that he declared his intention to contest for the presidential race come 2019 and they struck
Governor Fayose who described the Commission as a tool of oppression in the hands of the ruling All Progressives. Congress (APC) pointed out that the matter of which the officials were being arrested upon was pending before a court of competent jurisdiction which had restrained it from taking any further action on the matter,
He, however, dared the Commission to come over to the state and picked all the Civil servants if it so wished but that would not stop his political aspirations.
