Senator (Dr.) Buhari Abdulfatai

Yes, by popular demand, by overwhelming necessity, and by the sheer will of the people, this Senator must be pulled out of the Senate either by force, intimidation, blackmail or by fire.

Enough of him at the Senate, Walai talai! We must all insist that he not return to that hallowed Chamber after finishing this third term. Se Ohun nikan na se aye fun ni? (Is he the only one destined for a life of ease?) No! He must be forced to leave.

Kilode! (Why now?). Honestly, this must be done in the hallowed chambers of the Nigerian Senate, where the future of our nation is debated and shaped; there are individuals whose continued presence, while valuable, might be a disservice to the greater good.

This is precisely the case with Senator Fatai Buhari, PhD, the Ogbomosho man representing Oyo North Senatorial District, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Frankly, the thought of him still occupying that seat, given his immense capabilities and proven track record, is a source of genuine “mental shock.

It’s time he was pulled out – not in disgrace, but to ascend to a higher calling: the governorship of Oyo State.

Senator Buhari is not just a legislator; he is a beacon of integrity, diligence, and unwavering commitment. A seasoned politician, he is currently serving his third term as Senator, having previously served in the House of Representatives and as a Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters in Oyo State.

From his days as a comfortable and handsomely blessed individual before entering politics, he has consistently dedicated his life to public service. Those of us who know him can attest to his rare honesty; his word is his bond, and his actions are his word. He is a passionate promise-keeper, a trait sorely lacking in today’s political landscape.

Since joining the political arena, Senator Buhari has relentlessly attracted tangible dividends of democracy to Oyo North and, by extension, Oyo State. He works day and night, embodying the mandate of his constituents, striving for the emancipation and empowerment of his people and the greatness of Nigeria. He is a great party man, an outstanding community leader, and a deeply altruistic and nationalistic individual, willing to sacrifice anything for the service of his people and nation.

His profound faith and adherence to the injunctions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ensured he would never indulge in any act that would tarnish his unblemished name.

His track record speaks for itself. He served excellently in the House of Representatives before his people, recognising his exceptional qualities, promoted him to the Senate.

In the Senate, Dr. AbdulFatai Omotayo Buhari is not only credible but profoundly responsible. He is an intelligent mover of Bills, adept at employing his distinct communicative and delivery modules to cultivate support for his motions.

Senator Buhari’s legislative prowess

Senator Buhari’s legislative prowess is evident in his active participation in key Senate committees. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation in the 10th Senate, a crucial role in overseeing the nation’s air transport sector.

In previous assemblies, he chaired the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime (8th Senate) and the Senate Committee on Land and Marine Transport (9th Senate), demonstrating his versatility and depth of understanding across critical sectors.

His legislative efforts have been impactful; he has been recognised as one of the top three Senators in Nigeria with the most bills to his name in previous assemblies.

Beyond lawmaking, his tangible achievements for Oyo North are numerous. He has facilitated several life-changing projects, including the construction of boreholes in rural areas, which provide much-needed access to clean water. He has organised massive empowerment programs, equipping his constituents with valuable tools and skills to enhance their livelihoods. He has also offered job opportunities to many, thereby directly impacting unemployment rates. A notable legislative achievement is his bill for the establishment of a Federal University in Oke-Ogun, a direct response to the people’s yearning for a federal institution within the zone. These are not mere promises but concrete actions that have transformed lives across his senatorial district.

He is blessed with wisdom, politically astute, economically sound, religiously pious, socially sensible, and diligently effective in any post he occupies, all while maintaining a remarkable degree of humility and grace. He is a first-class nationalist par excellence, consistently exhibiting competence and eminence in every responsibility entrusted to him.

Despite his brilliance and creative intelligence, Senator Buhari remains awesomely humble, possessing a selfless serving spirit, impressive credentials, and practical political experience. These qualities make him an inestimable asset not just for the 10th Senate but for any leadership role that demands genuine substance.

I, Wale Ojo-Lanre, Esq, former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State, unequivocally vouch for his integrity, his capacity to lead, his keen sense of responsibility, and his transparency in service.

This Senator, with all his demonstrable virtues, must be pushed out of the Senate to govern Oyo State. He possesses every essential element required to lead Oyo State forward:

Visionary Leadership: A clear and compelling vision for the state’s development, progress, and well-being.

Integrity and Honesty: Unwavering moral principles, transparency, and accountability to foster trust and credibility.

Effective Communication: The ability to articulate ideas, genuinely listen to citizens, and engage in constructive dialogue.

Strategic Thinking: The capacity to analyse complex issues, make informed decisions, and prioritise actions effectively.

Emotional Intelligence: Empathy, self-awareness, and crucial social skills to build strong relationships and manage conflicts.

Courage and Decisiveness: The willingness to take calculated risks, make tough decisions, and stand by them.

Collaboration and Teamwork: The ability to build and lead a diverse team, foster partnerships, and leverage collective expertise.

Adaptability and Flexibility: The capacity to navigate complex situations, respond to changing circumstances, and adjust strategies accordingly.

Accountability and Responsibility: The willingness to take ownership of actions, acknowledge mistakes, and learn from them.

Compassion and Empathy: A deep commitment to serving the people, understanding their needs, and promoting their well-being.

Strong Institutional Framework: The drive to establish robust institutions, laws, and policies to ensure stability, justice, and equality.

Economic Acumen: A solid understanding of financial principles, fiscal management, and sustainable development strategies.

Diplomatic Skills: The ability to build and maintain positive relationships with other states, international organisations, and stakeholders.

Crisis Management: The capacity to respond effectively to emergencies, mitigate risks, and ensure public safety.

Continuous Learning: A commitment to ongoing education, self-improvement, and staying informed about best practices and global trends.

Let’s rally to push this exceptional man out of the Senate so he can deploy these formidable qualities to further better Oyo State. He is uniquely capable of building upon and continuing the commendable work of His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde, who is undoubtedly doing well.

Good day.
