DIRECTOR-GENERAL, Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture, Ambassador Wale Ojo-Lanre has advised parents to assist in reviving culture.
He, therefore, charged the parents to teach their children on ways of respect and good human relations in which the Yoruba people are known for.
Ojo-Lanre gave the charge in his welcome address on Tuesday, during the kiddies cultural presentation to announce the commencement of Ekiti State Festival of Arts and Culture (EKIFEST), 2019 edition, held at Motif Amusement Park, Iworoko-Ekiti.
”Teach your children good culture from the cradle on ways of greetings (kneeling and prostrating), dressing the hair (weaving and nice cut), clothing, home chores, patronizing culturally made goods, on choice of friends and others, said, these habits if well practiced would fight moral defects among youths.
“Don’t let our culture die. Western ways are fast eroding our cultural heritage. We must not allow western ways to take our culture away from us. It is our identity. It is our heritage and we must protect it”, he said.
