Former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has been reported dead, following the complications of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.
ReportersAtLarge learnt that the 70-year-old ex-governor, who had been on a life support machine since last Friday at First Cardiology Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos, after slipping into a coma following Coronavirus complications, finally died on Thursday.
It was also gathered that doctors treating Senator Ajimobi, who was born on December 16, 1949, last Friday informed his family that his situation had defied every medical intervention and that only a miracle could bring him back to life.
Recall that he was recently rumoured dead, but Bolaji Tunji, media aide to the immediate past Governor of Oyo State, described as untrue reports of his death.
Tunji, while debunking the reports of Senator Ajimobi’s death in a post on his social media handles, urged Nigerians to pray for the recovery of the APC chieftain who is battling with COVID-19.
Some reports say he was dead but still on life support machine.
One of his security men who served him for eight years said the death of the APC chieftain told ReportersAtLarge that the death news is real this time.
Also recall that the virus has killed several prominent Nigerians, including late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, who was also treated for the disease at First Cardiology Hospital until he died.
An impeccable source revealed that the news of his death was kept away from the public because of the new appointment by the National Working Committee of the APC as acting national chairman of the party.
According to the source, “It is true this time around. It was hidden before because of the political development within the party.
The source further disclosed that the ex-governor had lung surgery.
