The National Vice Chairman (South West) of the party, Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja, was received by a mammoth crowd at Adegoke Adelabu ultramodern market venue of the campaign rally, expresses satisfaction with the large turn out of the people. This, according to him, is an indication that PDP is the party to beat not only in Ibadan South East but the entire Oyo State in the forthcoming local government polls.
Ambassador Arapaja, according to a release, signed by Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, Chairman Publicity Committee for the local government election in Ibadan South East local government, added that from all indications, people are yearning to enjoy dividends of democracy at the grassroots level hence, “the candidates should endeavour to complement the good work being done by the Engr Seyi Makinde-led administration by fulfilling all their campaign promises.”
He stressed that Governor Makinde has raised the bar of governance by ensuring that it is no longer a business as usual in the state.
Also speaking in the same vein, the Chairman Pace Setter Transport services Limited, Prince Dare Adeleke, admonished all the candidates against putting their interest above that of the electorates but rather replicate the quality of work embarked upon by Engr Seyi Makinde in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the market leaders, traders, artisans and others, the Iyaloja of Adegoke Adelabu Shopping Complex, Chief Bunmi Adesanya applauded the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde for prompt payment of workers’ salaries and gratuities of pensioners since assumption of office on or before the 25th of every month.
Chief Adesanya stressed that “this gesture by the governor has had a tremendous impact in their patronage immediately the workers received their salaries.”
The Iyaloja, who disclosed that there are three categories of electorates during the election; politicians who constitute five per cent, civil servants about 20 per cent while the remaining 75 per cent are artisans, traders, pensioners and students, hinted that with Engr Makinde’s impressive performance so far, she does not doubt that Gov. Makinde has already secured 50 per cent votes from the third categories of the electorates plus nothing less than 18 per cent from civil servants to win in the 2023 general elections.
Chief Adesanya, who is also the Yeyesewa of Ibadanland and Founder of the Nigerian Beautician and Hairdressers Association of Nigeria enthused that because she is not a politician, it will be difficult for her to say anything about the first category of the electorate who are mainly politicians that constitute only 5 per cent of voters at the election.
She, thereafter, enjoined all the PDP candidates for the local government election to emulate the political ideology of Engr Makinde so that the electorates can enjoy more dividends of democracy.
