Amb. Wale Ojo-Lanre has been listed among the National Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) members for the 2023 presidential elections.
The astute journalist who served as Chief Press Secretary to former Ekiti State Governor Segun Oni and Senior Special Assistant to Gov Fayemi on Tourism is a campaign council’s New Media team member.
Ojo-Lanre, a former editor with Nigerian Tribune Newspaper, has been a strong promoter of the party since its inception.
The team, headed by the former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, includes professionals and eminent personalities.
Speaking with journalists about the development, Ojo-Lanre said, “I am grateful to the Party for nominating me as a team member. I didn’t lobby for this, and since they deem it fit to include me, I will discharge my duty diligently and ensure we work for the party’s victory in 2023.
“Long before now, I have been projecting and defending the APC government because I believe in it and its vision to make Nigeria a better place.”
After weeks of delay since the first list was released, the APC last night released a fresh list of members of its Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), naming the party’s national chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, second in command to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The fresh list was signed by the party’s national secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, unlike the initial 422-member list signed by the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
The list showed that the Adamu-led National Working Committee (NWC) may have taken full charge of the party’s presidential campaign team.
President Buhari is still the chairman of the campaign council.
Hon James Faleke also retained his position as secretary of the council.
All members of the APC NWC, all former and present APC governors and their deputies, and all members of the National Assembly, among others, are members of the campaign council.
President Buhari will formally inaugurate the presidential campaign council tomorrow, Friday, October 21, 2022. The event is billed to be held at the Banquet Hall of the presidential villa, where the president will also unveil the policy document of the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
