Oyo State Commissioner of Sport, Hon. Seun Fakorede, has appealed to all sectors, citizens, and football fans across the state to support the historic match between Nigeria and Tanzania in the U-23 African Cup of Nations.

This was disclosed during a press briefing held at the Iyagunku Press Center on Thursday. The grassroots development of the state government will accommodate everyone in a bid to support our team, I mean our Dream Team.

According to the Fakorede, “the last time Oyo State hosted an international match, and the accreditation of Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, by CAF, is as a result of the government’s conscious efforts to grow and develop sport under the administration of Engr. Seyi Makinde.

“We are confident that the match between Nigeria and Tanzania will lure sports lovers down to the historic town of Ibadan, and we are ready to utilize all opportunities inherent in the tourism potentialities of the event. We are very sure that lovers of sport, especially football, are to see the beautiful edifice of our enviable Lekan Salami stadium.

He also noted, “We need people to come out in mass to celebrate Dream Team, and the mass traffic will benefit all sectors, from the hospitality sector to the transportation sector. We are keen to make this match a reference point to the successful sports record under this administration.”
