The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof Kingsley Moghalu, on Wednesday failed to secure the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket after boasting that he would give the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, a hot challenge in the 2023 general elections.

Moghalu, who was one of the ADC presidential aspirants, while congratulating the former Vice President on his emergence as the PDP presidential candidate, expressed his readiness to wrestle power from the ruling and opposition parties to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

In his congratulatory message to Atiku on his verified Twitter page, @MoghaluKingsley, wrote, “I congratulate H.E. @atiku on his emergence as the flag bearer of @OfficialPDPNig. I look forward to meeting him on the presidential campaign terrain on behalf of @ADCNig. #Mo4More #WhyMoghalu #MoghaluStateofMind.”

Meanwhile, he lost the party’s presidential ticket to media entrepreneur, Dumebi Kachikwu, after scoring 589 votes against Kachikwu’s 977 votes, a difference of 388 votes, more than 339 votes scored by Chukwuka Monye, who came third in the primaries.

Meanwhile, Moghalu has not reacted to the outcome of the election nor made any comment on his loss of not only the party’s presidential ticket but the chance to slug it out with Atiku Abubakar of PDP, Bola Tinubu of the ruling APC, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and candidates of other political parties.
