All arrangements have been concluded for the Freelance Independence Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Oyo State Chapter, come Monday, February 13, 2023, to celebrate one of the Senior Chiefs in Ibadanland and Maye Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oloye ‘Lekan Rasheed Alabi.
The celebration scheduled to be held during the celebration of this year’s UNESCO WORLD RADIO DAY with a Lecture/Luncheon/Dance is to commemorate his 50th year of practice as a journalist.
A statement by the Chairman, FIBAN, Oyo State Chapter and the Chairman, Planning Committee for the celebration, Comrade Seun Awodele, read, ” In October 1973, Oloye’Lekan Alabi was employed by the now-defunct Sketch Publishing Company Limited(SPCL), Ibadan, Western State of Nigeria, as a Reporter/Writer/Reader Grade11.50 years on, and still remain a syndicated columnist with the popular City People magazine, analyst on SPACE 90.1FM and AGIDIGBO TV, among others, making him the longest-active columnist/analyst in Nigeria.
“The launch of the Media Resource Center is expected to come up as a major highlight of the 2023 UNESCO World Radio Day with the theme “RADIO AND PEACE”. Oloye Lekan Alabi Media Center shall be a comprehensive one-stop shop for resources, tools, and information on the most relevant issues impacting local radio and television stations and the print media.”

The royal father of the day is the Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr.) Mohood Olalekan Balogun is the royal host and host of other dignitaries while Prince Bisi Olatilo of BISCON TV and Chief Julie Coker are to anchor the event with Apreel1 Events Management and TV expected to package it”, Comrade Awodele said.
