On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, a serial armed robber and rapist who had been on the police’s wanted list for a while met his demise when a crowd in the Adagbada/Arola community in Apete, Ibadan, Oyo State, brutally murdered him.

The crowd attacked the suspect after they broke into a house at around 4 am and forced two women to give up their phones and money.

Additionally, he allegedly commanded the other woman to lie down so he could rape her while locking one of the women inside a bathroom.

Unknown to him, the woman he locked up managed to escape and notify the neighbours.

Due to this, the residents banded together to stop the suspect from carrying out his plan.

It was learned that the culprit tried to flee as soon as he realised he had been identified; however, supporters apprehended him and joined the pursuit.

According to a reliable source who insisted on remaining anonymous, the suspect threw the phones he had forcibly taken from his victims over the fence of a building, where the police in Apete Division finally found them.

He was attacked by a crowd that had collected, and he was eventually beaten to death.

Many residents of neighbouring communities in Apete congregated early in the morning to witness the suspect’s lifeless body, and many of them who were aware of his previous criminal activities began celebrating.

In an interview with a few of the residents, they described how they had to constantly be on guard due to the slain suspect’s actions.

They revealed that the suspect always carried a cutlass, which led many women to become victims out of fear of being murdered.

According to them, he used to appear as though he had come for an operation with other gang members, barking orders and requesting that they bring his gun if the target of his rape refusal did not submit quickly.

The sources claim that on occasion, he would lock occupants inside an intruded-upon residence before taking his target outside to rape her.

It was also discovered that he had once locked up the guy before raping a woman who was with her fiance.

It was claimed that his actions had been occurring for about five years.

When he sexually assaulted a virgin in 2022, the situation escalated, leading many people to shed tears of solidarity with the victim.

Before his death on Wednesday, he had been on the run for three weeks.

In Apete, the authorities discovered the body.
