At the commemoration of Oba Francis Olushola Alao’s 60th birthday on Friday evening in Lagos, dignitaries were led by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Oyo State counterpart Seyi Makinde.
Senators Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun, the former governors of Ogun State, also attended the ceremony, which took place at the Federal Palace Hotel on Victoria Island.
Makinde was represented by Chief Seye Famojuro, and Sanwo-Olu was represented by his chief of staff, Mr Tayo Ayinde. The Deji of Akure, Oba Ogundare Aladetoyinbo, the Elegushi Oba Saheed Ademola, and the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole, were among the A-list attendees.
Former Speaker Dimeji Bankole, Elizade Motors Chairman Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, Chief Mrs Florence Ajimobi, Senators Olorunnimbe Mamora and Anthony Adefuye, and others attended the event to commemorate the monarch.
Additionally present were Prof. Adeolu Akande, Chief Ajibola Ogunsola, and Amb. Bolaji Akinremi.
Amb. Akinremi lavished praise on the celebrant, calling Oba Alao a lover of culture who also embraces modernity, a trait he claimed was uncommon in men. Additionally, he mentioned how much the monarch loves Jesus Christ and how he also loves people.
Queen Olusola, his longtime wife, claimed that her husband is impatiently unselfish.
She said: “He is a wonderful friend and father to me and the children. Yet he has no tolerance for mediocrity. You have to be excessively serious to be classified as serious by him. He’s a time lover. He’s extremely reliable and helpful.”
Pst. Benjamin Oladosu, who remembers meeting the monarch in the church in 1981, stated in his sermon that given his dedication to God since he was a young man, he was not shocked by the accomplishments Oba Alao has achieved in life. He said that his life’s success was due to his early service in the vineyard.
The celebrant and his family were prayed for by Pastor Itua Igodalo.
