Nigerians have continued to make waves globally in all ramifications. Undoubtedly, this will not wane but continue to expand because of the excellent spirits that dwell in Nigerian people.
One of the Nigerian nationals abroad making academic exploits is a brilliant 20-year-old, Promise Ayomide Adekola, who gained admission to Cyprus International University at the age of 14 and has bagged two Master’s degrees and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the age of 20.
Promise Adekola bagged her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Cyprus International University. She also holds dual master’s degrees from the same university and the University of Rome Tor Vergata in Cyprus.
Promise gained admission into Cyprus University at the age of 14 after meeting the educational requirement of obtaining five credits from the West African Examination Council (WAEC).
“I just finished my PharmD at Cyprus International. In 2017, at the age of 14, I left Nigeria. My admission was based on passing the necessary five credits in WAEC,” she said.
She mentioned that she does not regret making use of the opportunity to study in Cyprus, stating that it was her parents who recommended it to her because of its favourable environment and affordable tuition.
“My parents recommended studying in Cyprus due to its friendly environment, affordable tuition, and quality education. It was an opportunity I don’t regret accepting.”
Commenting on what piqued her interest in the pharmacy career, Ayomide said it started with a health-related course she took in secondary school. She hesitated at first because she hated direct exposure to open wounds and witnessing patients’ pain.
