Achunike Okafor, a brilliant Nigerian Science Park High School student in Newark, New Jersey, is recognised for his extraordinary work with 40 scholarships.
Okafor graduated with an International Baccalaureate credential and a remarkable grade-point average of 4.625.
The study states that his GPA is the highest among the 2,649 Newark Class of 2023 graduates and is the highest ever registered in the city’s public school system.
Several prestigious universities, including Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, Princeton, Penn State, Stanford, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Southern California, and Rutgers, have extended him over 40 scholarship offers due to his accomplishments.
Okafor said, “I am grateful for the opportunities to attend such prestigious universities and to represent my family and community. I am grateful for the opportunities that have been given to me.” I do not take lightly the honour and duty of being one of the select few chosen for such distinctions.
At Harvard University, the 18-year-old Nigerian student intends to pursue a degree in neuroscience.
