In fulfilment of an earlier promise, Sen. Sharafadeen Alli of the All Progressives Congress (APC-Oyo South) has donated a Toyota Sienna bus to the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Oyo State Chapter.

This is contained in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas and made available to REPORTERS AT LARGE on Monday in Ibadan.

The senator handed the key of the new bus to FIDA, Oyo State Chapter, led by its chairperson, Mrs Sola Sulayman, at his residence on Monday.

Alli commended FIDA for its contributions to the fight for the rights of women and children.

He urged FIDA to do more in correcting the ills prevalent in society, such as domestic violence, child abuse and other rights issues.

The lawmaker appealed to women to always take things easy with their respective husbands, as that would help greatly in curbing domestic violence.

He also charged FIDA to do more counselling for women in society to promote healthy relationships and homes.

“We all must remain committed in ensuring we provide a society that protects and values the rights of women and children,” he said.

Alli assured the association of his support and collaboration in carrying out its mandate.

In her remarks, Mrs Sola Sulayman, the State Chairperson of FIDA, appreciated the lawmaker’s donation and described him as a promise-keeper.

She said the association had requested a bus from the senator during a courtesy call to him in Abuja.

Sulayman expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for his support, saying such would motivate them to do more to promote and protect the rights of women and children.

Other members of the association in their separate remarks expressed their gratitude to the Senator for the donation, which they said would positively enhance their activities.

“You are a man of your word. A promise keeper, supportive partner, and humble leader. We appreciate this donation and promise to make good use of it.

“We are confident that the newly donated bus to the association will positively enhance the activities of the association,” they said.

Similarly, the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan has appreciated the senator’s donation to support the faculty.

The faculty in a letter signed by its Dean, Prof. Oyeronke Odunola, appreciated the senator for his donation in support of the 8th UNIBADAN Conference of Biomedical Research held from September 11 to 15.

“On behalf of the Faculty, I write to acknowledge with immense gratitude the receipt of a donation of five hundred thousand (N500,000.00).

“This is towards the provision of conference bags for participants in support of the 8th UNIBADAN Conference of Biomedical Research held from September 11 to 15.

“The kind gesture contributed greatly to the success of the conference. Once again, thank you very much, Sir,” the letter read in parts.
