Barring any unforeseen contingency, arrangements have been perfected to honour ace broadcaster and On-Air personality Mogaji Kola Olootu with the award of ‘Eminent Peace Ambassador’ by the International Association of World Peace Advocates, in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, tomorrow.
The award, which will be held inside the popular Jogor Event Centre off Ring Road in the metropolis, will be graced by the governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, top government functionaries, and other major stakeholders in the broadcast industry.
According to the letter signed by Ambassador Muhammed-Lawal Musa Alongbija, the Oyo State director of the International Association of World Peace Advocates, and Ambassador Emmanuel Nkweke, the spokesperson for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDG) specialist, Olootu’s nomination for the prestigious award was informed by his visible contributions to peace and SDG-17.
The letter read: “Ahead of the forthcoming celebration of the SDG festival in Nigeria to commemorate the 8th anniversary of UN-SDG and the End of Global Week 2023 in Oyo State, coupled with the launch of the United Nations Peace Advocates Begin with ME Campaign in Nigeria, it is our pleasure to formally inform you that your role in supporting and promoting peace in the state has indeed gained our attention.
“Hence, the International Council of our organisation in the United States, Denmark and our regional office in Nigeria has been notified, and acceptance has been made of your nomination for the ‘Eminent Peace Ambassador’ award.
“The noble award is the highest calling and most outstanding recognition to those individuals like you whose life exemplifies the ideal of living for the sake of others and who dedicate themselves to promoting universal moral values and establishing a cultural values system predicated on trust and peace.
It added that “the conferment of this award aligns with the United Nations General Declaration of 2001 to 2011 as International Decade for Peace and Non-violence, UNESCO culture of peace as further enshrined in the UN Declaration of Peoples’ right to peace.”
