It was a glamorous day recently for the pioneer Chairperson, NetBall, Oyo State, and Iyalaje Adinni of Oyo State, Ambassador Rahmat Romoke Ayinde, popularly called Kayrom Lee, as she celebrated her 52 years on earth in grand style.
Alhaji Mudashir Atanda Bada performed the opening prayer at the well-attended ceremony, followed by the national and Oyo anthems.
The ace presenter with Fresh FM, Enitan Olusegun Bamidele, popularly known as EOB, introduced the guests.
The celebrant, Amb. Romoke Ayinde welcomed the guests and appreciated them for always being there for her.
While charging the youths to be passionate and love whatever they choose as a career, she said her reason for reintroducing netball is to restore its glory. The game was started on October 18th, 1974, which incidentally fell on her birthday.
Kayrom Lee then charged parents and teachers to encourage their wards to participate in netball games to bring glory back to Oyo State and Nigeria. She appreciated the support of the Chairman of SAO Petroleum, Chief Salman Akanni Oladiti, for making the game a reality.
Meanwhile, Funke Igbasan of Yes 101.7 FM read the celebrant’s citation, followed by a brief hint about the celebrant from a season sports journalist, Olanrewaju Agiri.
Alhaji Raji Bayo Ebony then performed the inauguration of the Oyo State Netball Association, which was followed by cultural displays to entertain the guests present.
The cake-cutting was coordinated by the legendary gospel singer Evangelist (Dr.) Funmi Aragbaiye, who later sang for the celebrant after cutting the cake.
The unveiling the swimming pool and Media Office was performed by Hon. Waheed Akintayo, popularly called Ilumoka Presenter.
