Gumsu Abacha, the Yobe state first lady and daughter of the former military head of state, Late General Sani Abacha, has announced his divorce from the Northeast state governor, Mai Mala Buni.
The daughter of the former military leader took to her social media page to announce that she was emancipating and liberating. She tweeted, “Emancipation…Liberation.”
In the comment section, she was referred to as the first lady of Yobe State, but the daughter of the late military general said she was not married. She said, “I am not Married.”
Governor Mai Mala Buni, on April 14, 2021, got married to 45-year-old Gumsu and paid 24 gold coins as dowry.
The marriage ceremony took place at the Abuja residence of her elder brother, Mohammed Abacha, and had in attendance the then Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Hameed Ali; former National Commissioner, Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Bashir Garba-Lado; and Kano-based Islamic cleric, Aminu Daurawa, among others.
Gumsu was previously married to a Cameroonian billionaire, Bayero Mohamadou, but the 20-year-old marriage ended in 2020.
