The city of Ibadan is set for a landmark media event as celebrations commence for the Olayinka Agboola 61st birthday anniversary this Tuesday, May 5th, 2026. The founder of ParrotXtra Media Network will mark the milestone with a high-powered Oyo State democracy panel featuring some of the region’s most influential political and religious figures.
In a statement released over the weekend, the media outfit confirmed that the former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Iyiola Oladokun, has agreed to chair a live panellists’ session. This special broadcast will air during the weekly radio show regularly hosted by the network on the biggest station in South West Nigeria, Splash 105.5fm, Ibadan.
Iyiola Oladokun on Splash FM: A Debate on Governance
The upcoming session represents a departure from standard birthday celebrations, opting instead for intellectual rigour. The management of the network noted the unique timing of the event:
“Our usual weekly radio show on Splash 105.5fm here in Ibadan this Tuesday happens to have coincided with Amb. Agboola’s 61st birthday anniversary and we have decided to do something unusually creative by hosting a live panellists’ session.”
The session, titled ‘Nigeria’s Wobbling, Fumbling Democracy: Whose Fault, Way Forward?’, will see Iyiola Oladokun on Splash FM guiding a rapid-fire debate. Joining him are Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, Bishop (Dr) Ademola Moradeyo, and Hon Yinka Omikunle. Adding international flair, Chief Dele Momodu, Chairman of Ovation International, will join the discussion virtually from Ghana.
Celebrating the Olayinka Agboola 61st Birthday Milestone
With only one hour for the live session, the Chairman will require each panellist to speak for two minutes on the causes of Nigeria’s current democratic state and another two minutes on the solutions. The organisers believe this format will be “academically and politically stimulating.”
Reflecting on the purpose of the event, the management stated:
“We are excited to be hosting this session to celebrate our Crew Leader because it is our own way of contributing to the sustenance of Nigeria’s democracy. For now, we are still full of appreciation to all those who have supported the ParrotXtra Media Network project in the past 21 years. We pledge to continue to do our very best to add value.”
Honoring a Legacy: ParrotXtra Media Network Anniversary
While the day is a celebration of life, it is also a moment of solemn remembrance. The 2026 ParrotXtra Media Network anniversary activities will be dedicated to the memory of late veteran journalist Clement Ige, who passed away recently at the age of 68. Ige’s company, Ceedee Resources, was instrumental in the network’s successful 20th-anniversary summit last year.
Beyond the airwaves, the Oyo State democracy panel will be followed by traditional festivities, including the cutting of a birthday cake and the distribution of gifts to widows and the less privileged. This charitable outreach aligns with the network’s 21-year history of community engagement.
Ambassador Olayinka Agboola, a veteran who served as Press Secretary to the late Governor Alhaji Lam Adesina, has a storied career spanning Thisday, Ovation, and the Nigerian Tribune. Today, he oversees a media empire that includes ParrotXtra Glossy Magazine and PMParrot.com.
The public can tune in to this special session on Splash 105.5fm or via the Facebook live stream between 11 a.m. and 12 noon this Tuesday.
