Oyo PDP Nullifies Expulsion of Akerele, Olanrewaju, Others In Atiba LG

In a twist of events, the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State maintained their stand on restoring peace and unity within the party in all the local governments of Oyo State.

It will be recalled that after the primary process that produced the chairmanship and councillorship candidates for the April 2024 local government election, many crises came up within the party, which is a normal thing to happen in a democracy. Still, the Party in the State had been waded in to create harmony within the party and the aggrieved aspirants.

In Atiba Local Government, the party chairman, led by Hon. Ashamu Kabiru, alongside other Exco members, took the resolution of the expulsion of the duo of Hon. Akerele Kayode and Hon. Afeez Olanrewaju to the State Headquarters for ratification, which the State Secretary of the Party declined.

According to a statement credited to the party chairman by our correspondent, Ashamu, “Our papers were rejected, and we were directed back home to resolve our issues internally and explore the best approach to dealing with the situation rather than the expulsion. Hence, we should go back with our resolution and other papers.”

“However, it is very unreasonable for a party preparing to go for an election in a couple of weeks and still expelling members on a resolvable matter, as quoted by a Leader in Oyo Federal Constituency.
