A philanthropist, Yinka Kenny, has promised to contribute more of her wealth toward the growth and development of Alegongo town in Ibadan.
She assured the people of this during her installation ceremony as Ekerin Iyalode Alegongo town, Abobo Oju-Irin, on Friday in Ibadan.
In her remarks, she said that her conferment as new Ekerin Iyalode Alegongo Ibadan was a call to contribute her quota to her origin and more of a call to service.
“I have been doing a lot of philanthropic work outside my hometown. I have been giving back to society through my non-governmental organisation (NGO), “Yinka Kenny’s Girl Foundation,” where we cater for the feminine gender from the cradle to the grave.
Through this NGO, we are doing many things for the elderly and teenage girls in Lagos.
This call back to my origin is to bring the philanthropic work home and see how I can impact people’s lives; the chieftaincy title is more of giving back to what gave birth to me, “she said.
Yinka Kenny urged other well-meaning Nigerians to use their positions and connections to impact people’s lives positively.
“After our time in the world, what we will be remembered for should always be on our minds; when I am no more, I want to be remembered for the legacy and good deeds that have been done.
“Everybody has something to give apart from money; it can be service or time; one way or another, we should strive to give back to society. God does not owe; whatever we give will return to us as blessings, “she said.
She promised the residents of Alegongo town to expect more initiatives to raise the standard of living of the community.
Yinka Kenny reiterated her determination to use her resources and influence as a media personality to promote the development of Alegongo town worldwide.
“It is going to be a new dawn and glorious era in Alegongo town,” she said.
Also speaking, the Baale of Alegongo town, Chief Timothy Olukunle-Omosanda, urged the sons and daughters of the town to bring development to their place of origin.
He urged the newly installed chiefs to work with the elders and other stakeholders to bring rapid growth to the town.
