The Chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Reverend Samson Ajetomobi, has said that the merit system implemented by the Seyi Makinde administration in Oyo State will improve the quality of the state’s workforce in the near future.
In an interview, the clergyman said that by allowing merit to play a pivotal role in recruiting and appointing people into critical sectors of the state, Governor Makinde is preparing the state for a great future.
Reverend Ajetomobi said, “One of the things Governor Makinde has done, even in employment procedure in Oyo State, is to make a place for merit. We had not done that before in the state. Now, when people take exams, they have cut-off points. It doesn’t matter what religious affiliation you belong to. The question is, do you meet the cut-off point? If you meet the cut-off point, you are good to go. Suppose you don’t meet the cut-off point, too bad. It doesn’t matter whether you are a Christian or a Muslim. This principle implies that soon, the workforce quality in Oyo State would have been largely improved because there are criteria that brought everyone on board.”
According to the PFN Chairman, God has helped Governor Makinde implement legacy projects across the state.
He said, “His commitment to infrastructure development is obvious everywhere. If you enter Oyo State, you will feel the impact of a working governor.”
Reverend Samson Ajetomobi lauded the governor for ensuring peaceful coexistence among the different religious groups in the state through his fairness to all.
