In an exceptional display of benevolence, the Amdalat Oloyede Foundation, a non-governmental and non-profit organization, recently distributed 15,000 sixty-leaf exercise books to students across six primary and secondary schools in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

This significant two-day distribution, led by Brigadier General Mutiu Abiola Oloyede-Asanike, the Foundation’s Founder and son of the 37th Olubadan, Late Oba Yesufu Oloyede Asanike (who reigned from 1983-1993), took place on Tuesday, October 7th and Wednesday, October 8th, 2025.

The beneficiary schools included the junior and senior sections of Ibadan Boys High School, Oke-Bola; Wesley School of Science, Elekuro; CAC Primary School 1 & 2, Ashanke Compound; the junior and senior schools of Ibadan City Academy, Eleta; St. John’s Catholic Primary Schools 1-5 Eleta; and IMG Primary School 1 & 5, Eleta, all situated within the Ibadan metropolis.

Established in 2023 in honor of his late mother, Olori Amdalat Oloyede-Asanike, the Foundation’s core mission is to bolster government initiatives aimed at advancing educational advancement in Ibadanland.

Brigadier General Oloyede was visibly moved by the sight of the deplorable conditions and high level of dilapidation in some schools, as well as the shabby appearance of some students.

The observation also led him to augment the scheduled distribution of exercise books, by directing that school uniforms be tailored and new sandals procured for the entire pupils of CAC Primary School 1 & 2, Asanike Compound, Ibadan.

Addressing students at Ibadan Boys High School, Brigadier General Oloyede emphasized his belief that “The best gift you can give anyone, especially at the grassroots level, is education.

While we acknowledge the Nigerian government’s great efforts in the education sector, there are ways we, as a people, can also add values.

“That is precisely what we are doing by supporting you with the little that we have.”

He concluded with a hopeful plea, adding, “We hope and pray that you students will make us proud in return.”

He also called upon other well-meaning indigenes of Ibadanland to collaborate with the government to achieve desired educational outcomes.

Rear Admiral Lateef Adetokunbo Akintola (Rtd), National President of the Ibadan Boys High School Old Boys Association, welcomed Oloyede to his alma mater, describing his gesture as both commendable and unique.

Akintola, who facilitated Oloyede’s visit, underscored the day’s significance, noting “Today is a very special day.”

This is the first time we have a benefactor who wants to reach out to all the students, and who happened to attend our brother school, Ibadan City Academy.”

He expressed profound gratitude to Oloyede for accepting his invitation, especially after learning about his extensive supports for Ibadan City Academy and other schools in Ibadan.

Akintola hailed the event as “epoch-making,” encouraging students to recognize their own future capacity to contribute positively to society.

Dr. Rasheed Fasasi, Principal of the senior section of Ibadan Boys High School, also spoke at the event, expressing his deep gratitude to Asanike for his generosity and unwavering commitment to educational development across Ibadanland.

Speaking on behalf of students, staff, and management of Ibadan Boys High School, Senior Prefect Master Adenuga Emmanuel and Junior Prefect Master Boyejo Daniel offered heartfelt thanks to the Amdalat Oloyede Foundation’s founder.

They praised Oloyede’s gesture as a remarkable commitment to uplifting young minds, noting that his kindness and selflessness brought immense joy to the students.

Brigadier General Oloyede entourage during the school visits included Barrister Biooye Oloyede-Ashanke (Jnr.), the Coordinator of the Amdalat Oloyede Foundation, and Dr Adetunbi Saheed Ige an Associate Professor from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, among others.
