Today, we honour an extraordinary leader, a true son of Ekiti, Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. As he marks another year of impactful life, it is fitting to reflect on the remarkable legacy of a man whose existence has been wholly devoted to the growth and development of Ekiti State.

Governor Oyebanji embodies the essence of collaborative and exemplary leadership. He is driven by his unwavering dedication and commitment to shared prosperity, a mantra that forms the cornerstone of his administration. His tenure as Governor has been transformative, ushering in unprecedented achievements across critical sectors, including infrastructure, health, education, agribusiness, social inclusion, tourism, urban planning, science and innovation, transportation, and civil service welfare.

Born and raised in Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji’s life is deeply rooted in the aspirations of its people. His exceptional contributions began long before his governorship when he served as the Secretary-General of the Committee for the Creation of Ekiti State, a pivotal role in the state’s history. His deep understanding of the state’s challenges stems from living in its towns and villages, working among its people, and sharing their dreams and struggles.

Governor Oyebanji’s administration has been a beacon of hope. His groundbreaking initiatives in healthcare have redefined accessibility and quality. In education, his reforms have reignited the passion for learning among students and teachers alike. His unwavering commitment to sustainable and durable infrastructure is unique and uncommon. His policies have fostered social inclusion, ensuring that every Ekiti indigene and resident feels valued and supported regardless of status, ability, or political leaning, ultimately ensuring no one is left behind.

Moreover, his sensitivity to the needs of the elderly, retired servants, and special people is unparalleled. He offers dignity and care to those who have served the state. Civil servants and teachers have witnessed a revolution under his leadership, epitomised by the prompt and unexpected payment of the minimum wage—a gesture that brought smiles to countless faces.
