The ancient city of Ogbomoso resonated with a chorus of honour, gratitude, and joyous celebration on Thursday, November 7th, as the remains of Mama Omotayo Ibironke Oladoye were laid to rest. The revered matriarch, mother of Remi Oladoye (JP), the distinguished journalist and publisher of National Insight Newspaper, was commemorated in a burial ceremony that drew a distinguished gathering, transforming Ogbomoso into a hub of warmth and unwavering solidarity.

The sheer magnitude of the attendance was a resounding testament to the enduring respect and affection held for Mr. Oladoye, affectionately known as the “Alárinká Agbáyé” (World Traveller). The extraordinary turnout underscored the deep-seated goodwill, humility, and unwavering loyalty he has cultivated throughout his career and personal life, qualities that have resonated across the political, media, religious, and social spheres.

The ceremony brought together a constellation of prominent figures. Notable attendees included Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole (Wolekanle); Alhaji Lamidi Monsour Ejide; Chief Gbenga Akinbobola (Islander); Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation; former Presidential Adviser Prince Williams Adeleye; Chief Biodun Ogunsusi; and the Ajana of Usi-Ekiti, Prince Bayo Owolabi. The esteemed gathering also included Chairman of Olab Gas, Otunba Lekan Akinyele; Chief Abraham Adisa Agboola (AB Motors); Chief Gbile Adeomi; Mogaji Samuel Bolanta; and a significant delegation of media professionals, reflecting the profound respect for Mr. Oladoye’s contributions to the press.

Adding to the impressive roster of attendees were Alhaji Rasaq Gbadegesin, a member of the Oyo State Governorship Advisory Council; Hon. George Ogunlade, Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government; Hon. Bisi Oluranti, a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly; and Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly. Further demonstrating the community’s support, the Old Students Association of Anglican Grammar School, Ogbomoso, where Mr. Oladoye is a proud alumnus, was also prominently represented.

The ceremony was also attended by representatives from Hon. Olamiju Alao-Akala and Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, as well as the management and staff of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of prominent movie maker and evangelist Kolade Segun Okeowo, along with members of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and numerous retirees, all paying their respects and honouring Mama Oladoye’s legacy.

Mama Omotayo Ibironke Oladoye, who peacefully passed away on June 24, 2025, at the age of 74, was remembered as a woman of unparalleled virtue and unwavering faith. Her life was a testament to her dedication to service, her strong religious convictions, and her steadfast devotion to her family.

Tributes from friends and associates painted a vivid portrait of a devoted mother and a true pillar of strength. Her legacy of love, tireless work ethic, and boundless compassion was vividly reflected in the lives of her children and those she touched.

The atmosphere during the ceremony radiated joy and gratitude, a celebration of a life lived to its fullest. Prayers were offered, and heartfelt tributes poured forth, all confirming the indelible mark Mama had left on all who knew her. The emotional celebration was elevated with soul-lifting music performed by Zammy Tee, adding further colour and energy to the memorable event.

Ogbomoso, in its vibrant and celebratory spirit, paid homage to a woman whose radiant light continues to shine brightly through her children and the countless lives she touched. The event served not as an occasion for mourning, but as a testament to the enduring power of family, faith, and a life truly well-lived.
