CHELSEA Football Club has been crowned champions of England after beating West Bromich Albion 1-0 at The Hawthorns to win the 2016/2017 English football league season. The goal was scored by Belgian forward Mitchy Batshuayi.
The goal arrived on 82 minute, with the substitute striker pouncing on a lovely assist from Cesar Azpilicueta.
And that clinches the league crown. Entering the day with a seven-point lead over Tottenham, Chelsea didn’t want to wait to lift the trophy. Instead, they celebrate at the Hawthorns, with an unlikely hero saving the day.
Recall that Batshuayi joined the London club from Marseille in the summer but hasn’t done much. Friday was his 18th appearance for the club, and just his second goal of the league campaign. But with that, he gets his first team trophy and returns Chelsea to the summit of the Premier League.
