In a political landscape often dominated by party rivalries and policy reversals, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi is pitching a distinct vision for the future of Oyo State: complete loyalty to the electorate and a seamless continuation of key infrastructure and economic projects.

Speaking during an appearance on Arise TV’s Good Morning Show, the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) declared that his primary allegiance rests entirely with the state’s population. Emphasising a people-first platform, Adekanmbi stated that his administration would act directly on behalf of the public rather than political interests.

“The people of Oyo State own Bimbo Adekanmbi, and I am people-centric,” he said. I am going to be a surrogate to the 7.9 million people of the state as we will be elected to serve the interest of the entire state.

Bridging Legacy and Growth: Building Beyond the Current Administration

Addressing public debate surrounding his candidacy, the APM candidate dismissed assertions that his election would represent an extension of the current administration. Instead, he framed his platform as a progression designed to elevate existing governance benchmarks.

Adekanmbi highlighted the achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde across key sectors, noting that sustainable state development requires building upon established progress rather than abandoning ongoing initiatives.

“I won’t discard the achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde; I am going to carry on where he will stop on May 29, 2027,” Adekanmbi affirmed, describing his goal as becoming a “higher version” of the incumbent by advancing critical infrastructure and economic reforms across the state’s zones.

Bimbo Adekanmbi: Proven Governance and Financial Strategy in Public Service

Pointing to his background as a former Commissioner for Finance under the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Adekanmbi outlined his record of managing complex state challenges and institutional reforms.

During his tenure in state finance, he spearheaded structural overhauls that granted operational independence to the State Board of Internal Revenue, significantly improving local revenue generation capabilities. Additionally, his oversight of the Ibadan Urban Flood Management Project earned direct commendation from the World Bank for effective crisis management and urban resilience planning.

Responding to queries regarding his party nomination, Adekanmbi clarified that his candidacy emerged through a consensus-building process involving key stakeholders across all political zones in Oyo State, ensuring party unity heading into the general election.
