Senator Buhari Commissions 21 e-Learning Centres In Oke Ogun, Ogbomoso

Stakeholders in the education sector in Oke Ogun and Ogbomoso area of Oyo state have commended Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, the lawmaker representing Oyo North Senatorial District for facilitating digital learning centres for public schools in the region.

Over 50  public schools including Ladoke Akintola University Technology LAUTECH Ogbomoso and Midwifery and Nursing School Saki have benefited from the ICT Centres and CBT training centres Facilitated by Senator Buhari.

The ICT centres which was built by Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency NITDA are powered with  Solar Powered IT equipment with computers, e-learning facilities and internet connectivity for 10 years.

Most of the schools have no computer library and some of the students are seeing computer for the first time.

The All Progressives Congress APC  Senator who is the chairman Senate committee on land transport said he facilitated the centres to boost digital literacy with the aim of enhancing their study and make them fit into the system.

“Apart from contributions at the red chamber, I owe it a duty to enhance the development of my constituency and part of which is preparing the younger ones for the future, we are now in a digital world, the younger ones need to be able to compete with their peers and colleague from another part of the world, they need to be informed and have basic knowledge of computer so that they can progress”.

During the Commissioning, Senator Buhari allays the fear of the students and encourage them to be the focus and determine to succeed in life”.

You have what it takes to be whatever you wish to be in life, make use of the opportunity you have now to lay the foundation for a better tomorrow and achieve your set goals”.

“I was not born with silver spoon my mother sells Pap(Eko) but with determination, I am where I am today, I didn’t have the opportunity you are enjoying now but because I was determined to be great in life I am where I am today and I want you to also take a cue from that’.

Professor Oluwafisayo  Ologunde, Vice-Chancellor Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso described Senator Buhari as a strong pillar of support for LAUTECH and commended him for facilitating the e-learning centres.

Representatives of the students who spoke on behalf of their colleagues commended the Senator for the gesture and promise to make use of the facilities to enhance their studies.

In their separate remarks, principal of Iseyin District Grammar School Iseyin, Alhaji Wasiu  Ademola of Muslim Grammar School Otu and others said the ICT centres Facilitated by Senator Buhari is a timely intervention which will enhance students knowledge about the computer as well as prepare them for exams such as JAMB, WAEC and others.

Various speakers at the Commissioning program including traditional rulers, School Governing board, Old Students association as well as Parents lauded Senator Buhari and the Federal government for the support.
