The Chief Press Secretary to Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, Mr Taiwo Adisa, has rubbished the accusation made by one contractor, named Mr Olufemi Oniyide, who claimed that the governor stole and adopted his intellectual property on Parks Management System PMS in the State.

The contractor had earlier circulated in some online news platforms that he submitted a proposal on the management of parks and garages in the state and submitted it through the office of the Chief of Staff to the governor.

He added that he was told that he would be contacted to carry out the construction of the gardens but was neglected while the government went ahead to use his proposal for the Oyo State Parks and Garages.

In his words: “I wrote a proposal on parks and garages and submitted it through the office of the Chief of Staff to the governor. I later learnt that the proposal had been submitted to the Commissioner for Works and Transportation led by Prof Raphael Afonja.”

Reacting further while interacting with journalists in his office on Tuesday, Adisa explained that the contractor wrote a mere proposal that was just similar to the a thousand and one of such written by others, adding that “intellectual property has got nothing to do with your piece of paper that was never adopted by the Oyo State government.”

Adisa said: “The writer of that acclaimed proposal has just been bandying words here and there. What is this bogus claim of intellectual property about self? I am sure he does not know the import of ‘intellectual property’. It was not as if he wrote a book that was plagiarised or made a discovery out of this world.”

He equally maintained that the contractor proposed OYS-P&GA but Oyo state is currently implementing PMS in the state.

“So, where is the similarity? I have seen the said proposal and what is being implemented by Oyo State Government as Park Management Systems (PMS) is by far different from what the man proposed. I saw his matter and wanted to initially intervene, thinking an ‘Omoluabi’ was talking, pronto, he started running mouth here and there,” Adisa added.

The governor’s spokesman, while concluding that those who think they can celebrate the contractor’s misapplication of words are mistaken, said “they are in for a nightmarish ride in the desert.”
