A group of concerned stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West has cautioned former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose and Engineer Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to refrain from fanning embers of discord in the party.
The group also said maligning and posting a video of meetings assaulting Governor Makinde of Oyo State on social media over party issues is not in the best interest of the party.
In a statement signed by Olugbenga Aderemi and Sanjo Ogundeji, the group threatened that if the parties refuse to swallow their pride and allow peace to reign in the party they have no option than to mobilize loyal members out of the PDP to join the opposition.
“Party loyalty is about ideology but when the supposed-leaders are not responsible enough to lead we have no option than to abandon them to battle with their ego and move on.
“There is no state chapter of the party with no issue mostly caused by greed and selfish interest, most leaders operate in the party without any recourse to the Constitution of the party. Everyone should swallow their pride and come together as a team.
“The so-called leaders in the South-West shouldn’t allow selfish interest to overwhelm their sense of reasoning so that we would not lose everything to the opposition, a crack in our wall is becoming a wide opening, let us harmonize and speak with one voice.”
While calling for a dialogue, the group said attacking Governor Makinde with a viral video on social media is not in the best interest of the party.
“The video is sending the wrong signal to the public. It speaks volume about the character of the people involved. Those doing it should stop if they truly love PDP and want the party to grow.”
