Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan; his counterpart from Ondo, Lucky Ayedatiwa; former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala; his wife, Kemi; Sen.Teslim Folarin; Ajia Balogun Ibadanland, Adegboyega Adegoke and other personalities gathered in Oluyole, Ibadan for the one year memorial Fidau prayer of the immediate past Oyo governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
REPORTERS AT LARGE recalls that Ajimobi, who governed the state for two terms of eight years, died at a Lagos hospital, on June 25, 2020 at 70.
At the one year memorial Fidau prayer, which was held on Friday, at his Oluyole resindence were Ajimobi’s wife, Florence Ajimobi; son, Idris Ajimobi; and other members of the Ajimobi family.
Other dignitaries at the Fidau prayer, included Chairman, Sen Committee on Land Transport, Dr Abdulfatai Buha; former Commissioner for Finance in Oyo State, Zackeus Adelabu; Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Olamilekan Adegbite; and Olasunkanmi Tegbe.
Islamic clerics who were at the event included, Sheikh Muhyideen Ajani Bello, Sheikh Habeebullahi Buha, Dr Bashir Olanrewaju, Alhaji Mudathir Bada, Alhaji Salauddeen Adekilekun and Alhaji Abdul-Ganiyy Abdulsalam.
Olaniyan while speaking said that Ajimobi has done his best for the state.
His words: “The former Governor before Ajimobi, Alao-Akala was here, so what do you expect us to say? He has done his best for the state.
“He has come and gone, he has done his best for the state.”
Bello while speaking urged politicians to do good things for people to remember them for good.
Ajia Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Adegboyega Adegoke in an interview with journalists, described Ajimobi as an epitome of everything.
He added that the former Governor left a good legacy behind.
“He is an epitome of everything. He has come and gone.
“The most important thing is that he played his role and he has left a legacy. Not just a legacy but a good legacy.” Ajia Balogun of Ibadanland said.
