Samuel Adekoya, a 65-year-old landlord, has been arrested for tying, kicking and beating up 11-year-old twin children of his tenant in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

The landlord was seen in two video clips kicking the two children and beating them after he had tied them up like goats, with their hands at their backs.

In a release, AZ:5310/OGS/PRO/VOL.7/98/15/04/2022 the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, gave the names of the two boys as Taiwo Enoch Olishe and Kehinde Emmanuel Olishe.

Adekoya explained to the police that he was informed that one of the twin defecated within the compound, despite his warning that the compound must be be kept clean always.

The suspect, who was accused of child abuse and physical molestation, was arrested following a complain lodged at Ijebu Ode Area Command by the mother of the twin, Gbemisola Olishe.

“The mother reported that, while she was away on her business, she received a phone call from a good Samaritan informing her that her landlord was seen tying her twin’s hands and legs like goat and dragging them on ground with the rope after beating them with cable wire.

“She stated further that the twin sustained varying degrees of body injuries as a result of the wicked act meted on them by the landlord, Adekoya.

“Upon the report, the Area Commander Ijebu Ode, ACP Adeniyi Omosanyin, detailed some policemen to the scene where the two boys, who were met tied down on both legs and hands, were rescued and taken to hospital for treatment.

“The suspect, who happened to be the landlord of the victims parents, was promptly arrested and taken to the station.

“On interrogation, the landlord explained to the police that he was informed that one of the twin excreted within the compound, despite his warning that the compound must be be kept clean always.

“When asked to take policemen to where the excreta is, he said the boy has already washed it,” DSP Oyeyemi stated in the press release.

He added that one of the twin is currean ntly on admission at the Ijebu Ode General Hospital due to an injury he sustained while he was being dragged on the floor by the suspect.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bakole, has ordered that the case is thoroughly investigated and that the landlord must be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
