Several outstanding Nigerian leaders chosen from the South West geo-political zone will be honoured on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the Premier Hotel, Ibadan at 11.00 am.

This was made known in a Press Statement made available to Newsmen today.

The Award, a brainchild of Grassroots Leadership Centre, Abuja, is designed as a reward for the excellent performances of the nominees in their various callings. It is also targeted to serve as an incentive for them to do more.

The Press Statement, signed by Barrister Yinka Awoyinka, the Director-General of the Centre, indicates that Engineer Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State will bag the Governor of the Year Award (South West) in appreciation of his creative ingenuity and outstanding contributions to the development of Oyo State in less than three years in office.

Oba Dr Lekan Balogun, the Olubadan of Ibadan will receive the National Award for Excellence in Leadership as the most outstanding custodian of African Culture.

High Chief Rashidi Ladoja will receive the National Award for Excellence in Leadership as the Most Outstanding Elder Statesman in Nigeria.

Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Senator Tayo Alasoadura and Hon Ibrahim Kunle Olarewaju will receive the awards as the most outstanding Senator, most outstanding Minister and most outstanding Representative from the South West geo-political zone respectively.

Hon Ibrahim Akintayo, Ibadan North East LG and Mayoress Abolanle Bada, Ikosi/Isheri LCDA will receive the National Award for Excellence as the most outstanding local government chairmen in Oyo and Lagos States respectively.

The release also stated that Prof Jide Owoeye of Lead City University, Dr Adebayo Adepoju of Oyo State Water Corporation and Engineer Tunde Lawal of Braile Construction Company Ltd will be honoured as the most outstanding Proprietor of a private university in the South West, most outstanding Board Chairman in Oyo State and most outstanding Building Construction Engineer in the South West respectively.

The event will be a roll call of who’s who in Nigeria as many distinguished personalities will grace the occasion to rejoice with the recipients of the prestigious awards.
