The University of Ibadan (UI) has maintained its lead position among Nigerian and West African universities.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 include more than 1,600 universities across 99 countries and territories, making it the largest and most diverse university ranking to date.

The rankings were based on 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an Institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, FAS, mni, who was highly elated by the high rankings, noted that if the University of Ibadan, despite its limited financial resources, could perform this well, there is no doubt that the University would be ranked higher given the needed infrastructure.
