The Just Foundation, the development arm of Al-habibiyyah Islamic Organisation has trained 40 youths in four southwest states in digital skills to curtail social vices.
The three days training was held from Nov. 10th to 12th, 2022, at the University of Ibadan.
In his remarks, Imam Fuad Adeyemi, the National Chief Imam, Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Organisation and Executive Director of the Just Foundation said the training was geared towards empowering the youth for the greater good of the country.
“Due to the prevailing situation in the country, the youths are just getting derailed and nothing much is being done about it or those who are doing things are not enough.
“We are gathered together here to train our youths because the issue of 419 or Yahoo-Yahoo has become rampant among youths.
“The essence of this is to curtail abnormal behaviour among the youths because when they are engaged positively, they will become better in society.
“They will do things for themselves and the entire nation will benefit.
They were picked from four states in the southwest; Osun, Oyo, Kwara and Lagos,” he said.
Adeyemi said the participants were taught how to make money and become self-reliant.
Also, the Programme Coordinator, The Just Foundation, Dr Rekiya Abadu, said the programme was geared towards changing the attitude of the youths from thinking that they could use ICT negatively.
“We trained them to use ICT positively for their own benefits and the benefit of Islam in general, they have been taught various techniques and apps that they can use to make it in the ICT world, which is the future,” she said.
Some of the participants, Zainab Abdulgany from Lagos State and Khalid Odenike from Kwara State appreciated the organisation for equipping them with the 21st skills needed for the economic sustainability and development of the nation.
