In a move to revitalise its activities, the Institute for Tourism Professionals of Nigeria (ITPN) has nominated Mrs. Fatimah Obadaki to lead the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter’s interim committee. This development follows the dissolution of the previous Executive Committee (EXCO) due to two years of inactivity.
The decision was made during a meeting held recently and presided over by the National President, Chief Abiodun Odusanwo.
The meeting aimed to upscale the chapter’s activities, which had been dormant since several key leaders relocated from Abuja to pursue career advancement opportunities.
Fatimah Obadaki, a Fellow of the Institute for Tourism Professionals of Nigeria (FITPN), will serve as the FCT Chapter Coordinator. Other nominated officers include Capt. Emmanuel Lord’s Great (MITPM) as Secretary; Onofiok O. Ekong (MITPN) as Finance Officer; Yemi Owope (MITPN) as Membership Secretary; Abimbola Ogunlusi (FITPN) as Welfare Officer, and Florence O. Adedayo-Tayo as Publicity Officer.
In her acceptance speech, Fatimah Obadaki appreciated the house for the confidence reposed in her and pledged not to fail the tourism family. She emphasised the need for collaboration among committee members and the entire ITPN FCT Chapter to achieve success.
The National President also solicited the chapter’s readiness to host the forthcoming National Tourism Transportation Summit and Expo 2024, scheduled for December 3-4, 2024, at the M.K.O Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. The chapter was offered a complimentary exhibition booth to promote its activities.
During a general discussion, members called for increased commitment to drive the chapter forward. To foster unity and rejuvenate the chapter, a reunion party has been planned for Friday, December 13, 2024, at 2 pm at the Millennium Park.
The ITPN FCT Chapter is poised for revitalization under Mrs. Obadaki’s leadership, with a renewed focus on promoting tourism professionals and advancing the industry’s interests in the nation’s capital.
