The Agura Family has issued a public warning, known as a caveat emptor, regarding their ownership of a large tract of land in the Igbosan area of Ido, Oyo State.
The family claims exclusive land ownership, stretching from the Ogunwende/Elesin/Baale streams to the Ogun River and the boundary with Eruwa.
According to the family, the land is not classified as stool land, and court judgements affirm their claim. The Agura Family recognised as the only statutorily acknowledged ruling house in the entire Ido Kingdom, warned against unauthorised transactions involving the land.
The family announced this in a statement signed by Madam Taibat Asake Akinwunmi, Chief Tajudeen Akinola Agura, Alfa Saheed Olasupo Agura, and Hon. Adesina Salami-Olatoye Agura.
According to the statement, the land stretches from the Ogunwende/Elesin/Baale streams and the Federal Road Safety Corps Office (FRSC) area to the Ogun River and the boundary with Eruwa.
The family emphasised that the land is not classified as stool land and is exclusively theirs, citing court judgements affirming their claim.
The Agura Family recognised as the only statutorily acknowledged ruling house in the entire Ido Kingdom, warned against unauthorised transactions involving the land. They stated that no customary tenant has the legal right to sell or transfer any part of the land without the express consent and approval of the family.
The family also cautioned prospective buyers to beware of individuals or groups they described as “disgruntled and ignorant customary tenants or families” attempting to contest the family’s ownership rights.
