The free medical check-ups, which include checkups for diabetics, eye checks and free eyeglasses, hypertension checks, free medical aid, free consultation and general checks, among others, were done with drugs and counselling provided by medical experts to the beneficiaries.

Kolapo Daisi stated that the three-day free medical outreach would benefit about 10,000 people in Oyo South Senatorial District.

Items to be given to beneficiaries are blood pressure medication, diaphragms for children and dental tools for those less privileged who cannot afford them.

Speaking in Ibadan during the outreach, the Accord candidate, Kolapo Daisi, described the outreach as one of his “E je ka Dasi” projects, saying the health of his constituents remained his priority.

Kolapo Kola Daisi said the timing for the outreach was good, considering what is going on in the country, which has led many people to stress as well as depression due to hardship.

He said, “We want to reach out to thousands of people on their health issues.”Kolapo Daisi noted that this exercise would be continuous and that it would be sustained every year when we get to the office.

He continued, “We are even considering taking the medical outreach to the people in their various communities so that they won’t need to travel far to access health care and treatments.

“Our people need to be healthy, and this shall be part of our mandate when we get to the office because it is an intervention that we think it is necessary for our people,” Daisi said.

While speaking, leader of the medical team from Medical Aid for Africa, Dr. Sabu George in his remarks, noted that one of the focuses of the medical outreach was to increase awareness among the people on hypertension and importance of taking its medicine on regular basis.

Dr. Sabu Gearge said, “One on the biggest challenges we have seen is that people believe hypertension is a disease someone can treat in a short period of time because it doesn’t have a specific symptoms, so many people stop taking the medicine because they think it has been cured with the medicine they have taken.

“People need to know that it is silent killer disease is with them once they are diagnose with it, they need to take the medicine strictly, and for them to know that the medicine are not expensive and can be get locally in Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, the Director General of the campaign group, Chief Sunday Babalola, described the medical outreach as a pointer to one of the cardinal programs of Kola-Daisi, which is free health for women and children in the constituency.
