Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Digital, ICT, and Cybersecurity, has distributed cash and food items to widows across Oyo State. The initiative marks the conclusion of this year’s Ramadan and provides much-needed relief ahead of the Sallah celebrations.

A Gesture of Compassion in Challenging Times

According to Tolu Mustapha, Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs to the lawmaker, the outreach targeted the most vulnerable members of society. Hon. Olajide, who represents the Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency and is a gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, hosted the distribution exercise at his Adeoyo residence.

The beneficiaries, drawn from the Odidiomo Progressive Widows group, received assorted food packs and financial gifts to ensure a dignified celebration.

Hon Olajide: Leadership Rooted in Empathy

Speaking during the event, the federal lawmaker emphasised that the holy month is a period for sacrifice and communal support. He noted that widows often face the harshest economic realities and require dedicated attention from those in leadership.

“Ramadan is a time to reflect on the plight of others and to extend kindness to those who need it the most. Supporting widows is not just an act of charity, but a moral responsibility,” Olajide stated.

The Chairman further explained that this initiative aligns with his broader commitment to inclusive representation. He argued that governance must go beyond policy-making to reflect genuine responsiveness to the people’s needs.

Strengthening Ties with the Grassroots

Beyond his legislative duties in the National Assembly, Hon. Olajide stressed the importance of maintaining close contact with constituents during periods of economic difficulty. He assured the public that these interventions would be sustained and expanded to reach more vulnerable groups within the constituency.

Impact on the Community

The atmosphere at the Adeoyo residence was one of gratitude. Beneficiaries described the support as “timely and impactful”, noting that the current economic climate has made necessities difficult to afford. The widows offered prayers for the lawmaker, seeking continued strength and wisdom for his service to the state.
