The Anglican Grammar School Ogbomoso golden jubilee celebrations concluded in grand style on Saturday, 26 September 2026, with the presentation of prestigious honours to outstanding former students.
Among those celebrated during the landmark event was seasoned media practitioner and peace advocate Remi Oladoye, Chief Executive Officer of LUREM G Media. Receiving a distinguished alumnus award, the veteran journalist dedicated the milestone achievement to the memory of his late mother and the dedicated educators who guided his formative years.

These activities brought together former students from across generations to reflect on their shared history and celebrate the institution’s growth.
Alumni Association Highlights Giving Back to Alma Mater
Speaking on the deeper meaning of the anniversary, the President of the Alumni Association, Solomon Olugbenga Bello, stressed that the gathering extended well beyond conventional festivities. He noted that the occasion provided a vital platform to express genuine gratitude and deliver tangible support back to the institution that laid the groundwork for their professional careers.

Bello explained that the honourees were chosen following a rigorous selection process aimed at identifying individuals who have made measurable contributions to the school’s development and broader society. The Ogbomoso school alumni honours list featured several notable community leaders and industry captains alongside the LUREM G Media CEO.
Among the prominent personalities recognised alongside Oladoye were Dr Tayo Adiatu, Chairman of Tulcal Engineering; Architect Sakiru Suara; Mr Rotimi Adewole, President of NCRIB; Dr Tayo Magbagbeola; Oba Prof. John Akintola; Prof. Jide Ajao; Prof. Gbenga Solomon Bello; Dr Dapo Ishola; Engineer Yinka Ajao; and Mr Onilede Solomon, amongst others.
Remi Oladoye Alumnus Award Dedicated to Mother and Teachers
Reflecting on the honour, Oladoye offered a heartfelt reaction, dedicating the award to his late mother, Madam Omotayo Ibironke Oladoye, whose firm insistence led him to choose Anglican Grammar School, Ogbomoso, as his first-choice secondary school. He extended equal gratitude to all the teachers who imparted knowledge and contributed directly to his personal and professional maturation over the years.
The media executive acknowledged that the recognition held deep personal significance because it originated directly from the institution and people who played pivotal roles in molding his early life. Oladoye openly recalled his days as a young student at the school, admitting candidly that he was sometimes headstrong and even faced the setback of repeating an academic class.
According to Oladoye, the foundational experiences and discipline gathered during those early years proved vital in building his character and steering his ultimate career path within the Nigerian media landscape.
“I will forever cherish this award because it came from the people and institution that shaped my life. I dedicate this honour to my late mother, Madam Omotayo Ibironke Oladoye, whose insistence made me choose Anglican Grammar School as my first choice, and to all the teachers who imparted knowledge in me and contributed to the person I have become today.
“I recall that, as a student at Anglican Grammar School, I was stubborn to the extent that I repeated a class. However, the experiences I gathered there helped shape my life, and I remain grateful to the institution and the teachers who played important roles in my formative years,” he said.
Oladoye concluded by expressing his profound gratitude to both the school management and its alumni body for the honour, describing the award as a permanent reminder of the lasting influence his early education maintains over his life.
