The City Boy Movement in Oyo State has taken a decisive stand on party discipline, warning that members cannot legitimately claim All Progressives Congress (APC) affiliation whilst simultaneously promoting opposition political candidates.
Speaking via an official press statement released on Monday, the Director of the movement in the state, Hon. Olufemi Onireti, reaffirmed the group’s total commitment to every candidate on the party’s ticket, condemning all forms of selective allegiance within political ranks.
Hon. Olufemi Onireti emphasised that true party allegiance requires complete consistency rather than convenient choices during election cycles. The Director noted that the group rejects any political manoeuvres that compromise party unity or dilute campaign efforts across all levels of government.
“We are unequivocally loyal to the APC and all its candidates. Our loyalty is not selective, and we will not support one candidate while abandoning another. We stand firmly with the party at the presidential, governorship and other elective levels,” he said.
City Boy Movement Condemns Selective Allegiance in Party Ranks
Addressing the growing concern over split loyalties within local political structures, the City Boy Movement expressed serious worry regarding groups that fly the APC flag while covertly or openly working against its chosen aspirants. Hon. Onireti made it clear that such hypocritical positions damage internal solidarity and mislead voters ahead of critical polls.
“Political loyalty must be consistent. You cannot claim to be committed to the APC while simultaneously promoting candidates of other political parties based on personal interests or political calculations. Such actions raise serious questions about the sincerity of your allegiance to the party,” Onireti stated.
He stressed that the movement’s commitment to the All Progressives Congress remains total and unwavering, adding that it would not compromise its core principles through convenient or partial backing of candidates.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Oyo City Boy Movement stands firmly with the APC and all its candidates. We will not be part of any arrangement that undermines the party’s interests or promotes candidates from opposing political parties while claiming to represent the APC. Our loyalty is to the party, and our support extends to all its candidates,” he added.
Building Total Loyalty Across the Oyo State APC Framework
Beyond tackling issues of political loyalty, Hon. Onireti expressed appreciation to the leaders and members who attended the recent inaugural gathering of the City Boy Movement. The event brought together key party figures, grassroots organisers, and executive members from across all zones of the state.
He specially thanked the Oyo State APC Chairman, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, and the State Women Leader, Dr. Mrs. Felicia Adekemi Opatunde, for their presence and support, as well as executives and members across all zones in the state for their dedication to the success of the event.
The group reiterated that grassroots political movements must maintain strict discipline to secure electoral victory across every level of representation.
Strengthening APC Unity Ahead of Key Elections
The City Boy Movement urged party stakeholders and members of the general public to remain vigilant. Hon. Onireti advised supporters to distinguish clearly between groups genuinely committed to the party platform and those displaying mixed loyalties for personal political gain.
By calling on all party-affiliated groups to demonstrate consistency, discipline, and unity, the City Boy Movement aims to build a robust, united front for the Oyo State APC that leaves no room for political compromise or internal disruption.
