The Oyo State Government has begun a reverification exercise for property owners on the first phase of the Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road, Ibadan, who are yet to receive compensation.

Managing the Ibadan Circular Road Compensation

Chairman of monitoring committee for the payment of compensation to affected property owners on the first phase of the project, CP Sunday Odukoya (rtd), said on Monday that the reverification exercise will capture over 900 persons, who were omitted during the initial compensation exercise.

Recall that the government previously approved N5.8 billion on 22 April 2026 to settle these claims, adding to the funds already distributed to hundreds of affected residents.

According to Odukoya, beginning from Monday, 27th April, 2026, property owners affected in the first phase of the 110km Circular Road, who were omitted in the prior compensation exercise, should go to the Ministry of Lands or the office of the Executive Assistant on Security to the governor, who also doubles as the chairman of the verification committee, to check for their names.

Required Documents for the Verification Exercise

To ensure a smooth and accurate process, claimants must provide specific documentation. The government requires these records to verify ownership and ensure funds reach the rightful recipients.

The following items are mandatory for all applicants:

  •  Local Government identification or residence permits for non-indigenes.
  •  Official survey plans and property drawings.
  •  Photographs of the property or farmland.
  •  Land purchase agreements and a sworn affidavit from the Court or Ministry of Justice.

Additional documentation includes a letter of Power of Attorney from the Ministry of Justice for proxy claims, five current passport photographs, and the claimant’s National Identification Number (NIN). Furthermore, claimants must provide five passport photographs of a guarantor, the guarantor’s NIN, and full bank details, including account numbers.

Ensuring Fairness for Property Owners

The committee has also requested a letter of recommendation from the local landlord association in the affected areas. These measures are designed to prevent fraud and ensure that every legitimate claim is settled fairly.

He said that the affected persons should bring along the following documents; Local Government identification letter/residence permit for non-indigenes of the state; survey plan of the property/farmland; drawings of the property plan/farmland; photograph of the property plan/farmland; land purchase agreement and sworn affidavit from Court/ Ministry of Justice.

The government encourages all affected persons to participate promptly in this review. This effort marks a significant step forward in finalising the project requirements for the 110km arterial road, which serves as a cornerstone of the current administration’s infrastructure policy. By streamlining these claims, the state hopes to resolve outstanding issues quickly and continue the progress of the development.
