MINISTER, Ministry of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has inaugurated board members for the 13 parastatals under the Ministry.

The inauguration, held at the National Press Centre, Abuja.

The parastatals include: Federal Radio Corporation; National Broadcasting Commission; National Film & Video Censors Board; News Agency Of Nigeria; Nigerian Film Corporation;  Nigeria Television Authority; Voice Of Nigeria; Centre for Blacks and African Arts and Culture (CBAAC); National Commission for Museum and Monuments (NCMM); National Council for Arts And Culture (NCAC); National Gallery of Art (NGA); National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO); National Orientation Agency (NOA); National Theatre/National Troupe of Nigeria (NT/NTN), and the Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC).

The Minister in his speech appreciated the supports and perseverance of the appointed board members for the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, while charging them to see themselves as part of the government and contribute to the success of the administration.

While reeling out the extant rules of the appointment, Alhaji Mohammed said the board members are expected to formulate policies, among other things; not to engaged in the day-to-day running of the parastatals.

Mohammed, who emphasised fight against corruption as one of the key cardinal points of the Buhari-led administration, charged the board members to join the campaign in their activities.

He then assured them of his support, while expressing optimism in a greater Nigeria, saying this would come to fruition through the collaborative supports of all stakeholders in the Nigeria project.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Deaconess Gekpe charged the board members to see their appointments as a call to serve to their respective parastatals, the Ministry and the country at large.

She added that they should explore their various expertise to achieve the set goal of the Ministry for the parastatals, the Ministry and country at large.
