As Nigeria prepares to mark its 65th Independence anniversary, a crucial public lecture aimed at fortifying the nation’s democratic foundation will be broadcast live from Ibadan.

The Yemi Farounbi Colloquium, in a collaboration with Honour 103.5 FM and Pan-Af Publishers, has announced a timely event focused on strengthening the electoral framework for free, fair, and credible elections in 2027.

According to a release by the organisers, the highly anticipated public lecture, titled “Strengthening the Framework: Electoral Reforms for Free, Fair, and Credible Elections in 2027,” is scheduled to take place on October 1, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. WAT.

The broadcast will be streamed live from the Honour TV Studio in Bodija, Ibadan, and will also be accessible via Honour 103.5 FM and Honour TV.

Oloye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, will Chair the discourse, while Hon. Oladipupo Olatunde Adebutu is the Special Guest of Honor and Dr. Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe is the Distinguished Guest of Honour.

The focal point of the lecture will be delivered by Senator Dr. Yunus Akintunde, who will address the critical theme of “Recalibrating Nigeria’s Electoral Architecture: Legal, Technological, and Institutional Reforms for 2027.” His insights are expected to offer a comprehensive roadmap for enhancing the integrity and transparency of Nigeria’s electoral processes as the nation looks towards the next general elections.

Adding a layer of celebratory significance, the event will also include a ceremonial cake-cutting to commemorate both Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary and the birthday of Ambassador Dr. Yemi Farounbi OON, whose own milestone falls on the same auspicious day.

The Yemi Farounbi Colloquium is committed to fostering informed public discourse on governance, democracy, and national development. Through its high-caliber events, the Colloquium actively encourages rigorous examination of policy options, promotes stakeholder collaboration, and ultimately aims to support Nigeria’s democratic maturation.

This lecture is intentionally designed as a multi-stakeholder dialogue, actively encouraging broad participation.
