Comrade Sikiru Bayo Titilola-Sodo has resigned from his appointment as the Special Adviser on Labour Matters to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde to pursue his governorship aspiration after the 2027 gubernatorial election.

This strategic exit allows the veteran politician to focus entirely on his ambition to succeed his current boss in the upcoming general elections.

A statement released by his media team on Monday confirmed that the former Oyo State labour union leader chose to step down to preserve public integrity. According to the campaign council, the decision reflects his deep commitment to the principles of transparency, accountability, and democratic participation.

By leaving the Seyi Makinde administration now, Titilola-Sodo intends to dedicate his full energy to building a grassroots movement across the length and breadth of Oyo State.

A Grateful Exit From The Seyi Makinde Administration

Comrade Titilola-Sodo noted that his extensive career in public service and labour leadership has adequately prepared him for the enormous responsibility of leading Oyo State. His experience spans service as a Principal Officer in the Local Government Service of Oyo State, where he traversed the various zones of the State, President of the Oyo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Permanent Secretary, and Special Adviser on Labour Matters.

According to him, these experiences have equipped him with the administrative competence, leadership capacity, and people-oriented approach necessary to drive sustainable development and inclusive governance.

He further emphasised that Oyo State possesses immense economic and human potential to rival leading states in Nigeria in terms of infrastructure, industrialisation, education, agriculture, healthcare, and job creation.

“I firmly believe that Oyo State has all it takes to compete favourably with the best-performing states in the federation. With visionary leadership, prudent management of resources, and inclusive governance, we can unlock greater prosperity for our people.”

The frontline politician believes his extensive career in public service and trade unionism has prepared him for the state’s top job. As an experienced **Oyo State labour union leader**, Titilola-Sodo has a long history of negotiating complex administrative challenges.

His public service career spans several decades. He previously served as a Principal Officer in the local government service of Oyo State, a role that took him to virtually every zone in the state. Later, he rose to become the President of the Oyo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and, subsequently, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). His technical understanding of civil service dynamics was further solidified during his tenure as a Permanent Secretary before he was appointed a Special Adviser.

Unlocking The Human Potential Of Oyo State

According to him, these varied roles have equipped him with the administrative competence, leadership capacity, and people-oriented approach necessary to drive sustainable development and inclusive governance.

Comrade Titilola-Sodo assured the people that, if entrusted with the mandate in 2027, his administration would ensure equitable distribution of developmental projects across all geopolitical zones of the state, promoting balanced growth and ensuring that no community is left behind.

A Pledge For Balanced Regional Growth

He pledged to champion policies that prioritise security, workers’ welfare, agriculture, youth empowerment, women’s inclusion, rural development, economic expansion, and improved social services for all residents of Oyo State.

As he embarks on this new political journey, Comrade Titilola-Sodo called on the good people of Oyo State, stakeholders, and supporters to join him in building a greater, more prosperous, and united state where opportunities abound for every citizen.

He reaffirmed his commitment to selfless service, integrity, and people-centred leadership, expressing confidence that together, Oyo State can achieve unprecedented progress and become a model of excellence in governance.
