The Oyo State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has praised the “track records” of the lawmaker representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, for his work in digital inclusion and cybersecurity.
A “Performer” with a Vision for Oyo
During a courtesy visit to his Adeoyo residence on Sunday, the NUJ leadership, led by its Chairman Comrade Akeem Abas, described the PDP lawmaker, who has recently declared his interest in the 2027 gubernatorial election in the state, as a leader with a clear vision for modern governance.
Abas noted that Olajide’s interventions have had a “far reaching impact across the state.” He highlighted the lawmaker’s role in promoting digital literacy and supporting media practitioners through training initiatives.
“Your noble achievements in the areas of digital inclusion, training, cybersecurity awareness and empowerment programmes are evident for all to see. You are a performer and you have all it takes to govern Oyo State,” Abas said.
Driving the Digital Economy
The NUJ Chairman further described Hon. Olajide as a leader whose legislative contributions, particularly in digital economy reforms, could transform public administration. He referenced a proposed digital economy bill as a “landmark initiative” for technological advancement.
Abas assured the lawmaker and Oyo PDP gubernatorial aspirant that media professionals would help project his programmes. “As journalists, we will do all within our means to propagate your achievements across the length and breadth of Oyo State,” he added.
A Pledge for Inclusive Governance
Responding to the endorsement, Hon. Olajide thanked the union for their confidence. He pledged to deliver sustained development if he gets the mandate to serve as governor.
“I am honoured by this show of support from members of the pen profession. I assure you and the good people of Oyo state that I will not disappoint if given the opportunity to serve,” he said.
To support the union’s activities, the lawmaker donated cash and presented eight laptops to the NUJ members.
